Buyers say "we want good schools" and then shop by town name. That is how you buy the wrong assignment. In the Charlotte metro, CMS, UCPS, York County, and Lancaster County lines do not care about the marketing label on the subdivision gate.

Matthews can involve CMS or UCPS depending on the address. Waxhaw and Weddington sit in UCPS but still require parcel-level checks. Indian Land and Fort Mill sit in South Carolina systems with their own tools. Crossing the state line changes the rulebook entirely.
